Alyssa J. Patterson joined Dehay & Elliston, L.L.P. in March 2017, as an Associate in the Dallas office, where her practice focuses primarily on toxic tort litigation.
Previously, Alyssa clerked as a Briefing Attorney under Chief Justice Carolyn Wright on the Texas 5th District Court of Appeals, in which the Court hears both civil and criminal appeals. As a clerk, Alyssa thoroughly researched Texas statewide law and assisted in drafting the opinions for the Court’s Justices.
Prior to the Court, Alyssa briefly practiced family law and argued cases in the Dallas County Courts. She also previously interned and worked at Texas Litigation Services for three years, as a legal researcher in which she assisted in the pre-litigation process for major pharmaceutical and toxic tort law suits.
Alyssa received her Juris Doctor Degree from the University Of Oklahoma College Of Law in 2014, where she received a graduation pro-bono legal service award for completing 200 hours of free legal service. Alyssa served as the Student Bar Association’s Graduating Class Secretary, the President of the BLSA Chapter at OU Law, Regional Vice-Chair of BLSA, and the Treasurer of Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity, Intl. While in law school, Alyssa also clerked for the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals and worked for the Oklahoma City Office of Municipal Counselor (city attorney). Alyssa received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of North Texas at Denton in 2011 in Political Science with two minors in Spanish and Criminal Justice.
Alyssa has a passion for service and giving back to the community, as well as mentoring law students to help them achieve their dreams. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Parliamentarian of the J.L. Turner Legal Association, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and completed the Dallas Bar Association’s Transition to Law Practice Program.
